Powerful Technique For Changing Limiting Beliefs

Whether you think you can or whether you think you can’t, you’re right.

You probably heard of this one and you probably know who said that (Henry Ford, of course).

What you believe about yourself is incredibly powerful because you cannot beat your self-image, and because our beliefs operate like a self-fulfilling prophecy.

So, if we have some limiting belief that is blocking you (and we all do have them), isn’t it better to try to do something about that (like, changing it to some supporting belief)?

…and how to do it?

Here is a powerful technique for changing limiting beliefs to supporting beliefs.

You can try it immediately on some small limiting beliefs while you reading, and then try something bigger.

Here is the setup:

  • What’s the problem now? How are you blocking (limiting) yourself?
  • Which core belief is standing behind that mental block?
  • Do you fundamentally believe that you can get better in that area, and are you open to more positive beliefs? (if not, that is your limiting belief)
  • Are you willing to try on more positive beliefs that might support and encourage you? (if not, that is your limiting belief)
  • Are you willing to take action to test some of the new beliefs? (if not, that is your limiting belief)
  • Can you write 3–5 new beliefs that support you, encourages you, or make you feel better?
  • Pick one of those ideas to test it.

Now, Let The Magic Begin

You try on one idea.

You succeed and the new belief becomes true.

Your old belief got upgraded.

Over time and with repetition, the compound effect of that can be huge.

That’s it. And now, let me try this.

  • What’s the problem now? How are you blocking (limiting) yourself?

I cannot write a blog post of 500 words.

  • Which core belief is standing behind that mental block?

English is not my native language, and I don’t know how to write blogs.

  • Do you fundamentally believe that you can get better in that area, and are you open to more positive beliefs? (if not, that is your limiting belief)

Yes, I do.

  • Are you willing to try on more positive beliefs that might support and encourage you? (if not, that is your limiting belief)

Oooh, yes.

  • Are you willing to take action to test some of the new beliefs? (if not, that is your limiting belief)

I am willing to make some tests. BTW, it is only a test, nothing more. I will not ruin my life if I try something new.

  • Can you write 3–5 new beliefs that support you, encourages you, or make you feel better?

I can research topics to write.

I can create an outline, then 1–3 point in every outline, and then 1–5 sentences in every point.

  • Pick one of those ideas to test it.

Ok, let’s outline and write something connected to the topic.

  • You try on one idea.

I just did it with this blog post :)

  • You succeed and the new belief becomes true.

Hahaha, 550+ words in this post.

  • Your old belief got upgraded.

I can write longer posts XD.

  • Over time and with repetition, the compound effect of that can be huge.
